Worn Out

I know why God gave me kids when I was young, I can't handle those little ones like Iused to. Like 49 is way old right. Well it feels it right now. I picked up my 10 and 6 year old grandsons Sat. and I just took them back home this morning. I wish I could say we accompished something other than wear me out. They never stop talking never stop moving, never rest for anything! Gosh to be so young and full of energy. I had gotten them a pogo stick, after getting it I was sure that I had just killed them, but they did good. They took it to the grass, with the belief that it wouldn't hurt so much if they fell in the grass. Hurt less yes, smell less no. They forgot about the Dog does his duty right there. Then Uncle Nathan got out there and helped them jump jump jump. Ok the pogo stick was a hitand they are both still alive.
The oldest Devon has been working on a quilt, for 2 years, but can't seem to keep his mind on it. Sews a few pieces together then off he goes. The youngest Kyler decided he wanted to make a quilt so with him I learned my lesson and chose an easier pattern. Giant 4 patch. Devon got all of his put together and I told him he could put it on my long arm and quilt it, but the thought of that big machine sent him to the bathroom with an upset tummy. Great another mess. Kyler got his top done too. Of course he just had 3 seams to do and he did rather well. Slow but well. His little arms were shaking the whole time he was sewing. I used two pre printed panels and he helped me cut out two solid squares to go with the panels. He said he wanted to put his on the big machine to quilt but ran out of the room and forgot about it till it was time to go home. I took the boys home without getting a pic of them with their tops but I will next time. But here are the boys Devon at the machine and Kyler acting like the goof that he is.

Margie's Quilt

This is a quilt I did for Margie. These are Oreintal fabrics with Geshia girls. She desgined the pattern, she wanted something that would highlight the Geshia's. She searched the internet and found the panto that she wanted.

The fans look good with the girls.

Hanger for quilts

Ok here is the hanger that DH made for me so I don't have to pester him anymore to hold them. This has Bonnie's quilt on it, she thinks this is an ugly quilt. It is hard to see but it is just wire strung across the porch posts with clips. The porch is high enough offt he ground that a large quilt will dangle and just (so far) barely reach the ground. I have a nice little step stool that I can just hang these up myself and now I don't need to bother DH.

Here is a close up. I think it is beautiful and if she doesn't like it then I will volunteer to take it off her hands. Pink and green is one of my favorite combinations. She said when she gave it to me to quilt that she hoped that I made it go 'wow'. I hope she likes the job I did. Of course I thought it was beautiful before the quilting.

Hectic Week

Well it seems just like when you think life will slow down, it proves you wrong. My FIL has been diagnosed with lung cancer and went into the hospital Monday to do an in and out procedure to get the radiation treatments started. Well this procedure collasped his lung. So an overnight stay was required, but for some reason (don't want to lay blame) not all of the clamps were taken off the tubing that was sending air to the lung to help inflate it, so the air went into his body cavity blowing him up like a balloon. Darn near choked him. So the simple in out ended up being 4 days. Not living close to the hospital it really put a strain on our daily routine. Not to mention the healthy eating I was trying to stick too. He is home now and life should get back to normal.

Quilts of Honor

My local club gives out these lap quilts to our local service members that have served in the War on Terror, as our way to say Thanks. Sometimes we have to give them to other family members since they might be away. Enjoy some pics.

Getting my way

Hubby is getting tired of the Hanging on a Cross (holding the quilts so I can take a pic) so he is rigging up a line for me to use. Yay! Will get pic soon

My Trouble Quilt

This is a row by row quilt done off of Mailblocks groups. I was given a yard of the border fabric, by a secret sis on my quilting in Indiana group and just knew I had to do something wonderful with it. I love purple and orange! The rxr was a purple theme so I sent it off. The first person to recieve the row was Lisa in CO and she found more of the fabric in her LQS so she purchased 3 yard of it for me. Sent another yard around with the rows and sent me the other 2 yards. What a stunner!

Here is a close up of some of the quilting. I did a nice feathery panto on the body of the quilt.

Here is my trouble the double braid border. Note that one side is wider than the other. I need more practice on this. And I have plenty more of my tops to practice on. But for now it is off to Bonnies.

Rambling

I have a hard day at work and thought I would just do some rambling. We started the Biggest Looser at work and I am sure I will NOT win this competition. Normally my competitive nature kicks in but not this time. We went out to eat last night and had french fries. The real kind even had the skins still on them. Never frozen cut for your order. OMG thought I was in Heaven. Perry's knee has really been bothering him, I told him I would for-go my quick trip to my parents for the 4th if he needed to get the surgery done sooner, but good ole Perry said no go home and see the folks. I wish he could come with me but he doesn't have any time to get off, those darn cows just don't understand holidays or family business.
On the quilting side I have had one of my own quilts on the machine. I thought I would slide it in between some clients quilts BUT I decided to practice my cable borders and I have spent more time ripping out. I am ready to take it off and throw it in the trash. I am going to work on it tonight and if it is not done ...... Tomorrow I have to put on a clients quilt. We are doing a row robin with my local quilt club. We only have two groups and right out of the starting gate one lady can't do hers for 'life' reasons. She has been one that has wanted to do these type of things, so I feel bad for her but better for me. I took her spot in the group. So I am getting two tops out of this. We are allowing 2 months per row so really that equals one month per row for me. I'll keep you posted. Ok I better get to quilting, I know Bonnie would appreciate her quilt getting done.

New Purse

I made this cute purse today. It is from Stitchin' Sisters. It is called Snap Happy! It uses a metal measuring tape in the top for the opening/closure. Just way to cool.

Fabric Scraps in my Face

This is a wall hanging that I am going to teach at our next retreat. I call this Peek-a-Boo quilt as you go.

A clients Quilt. I taught a class in a March retreat and this is the quilt that Betty made. She gave it to me to quilt. I call the block shuffled 9-patch. I heard someone say that they saw this block or something like it from Fons and Porter, so who knows, I just know how I do it.

Tried out a new ruler here in the sashing!

I said I was giving demo at my local quilt club, so I rushed around here for the past few weeks making sure I had the tops done the blocks cut the method down, so I knew what I was talking about. Packed everything up and off I went. Early too Yeah! Meeting going on and I casually leaned over to the lady beside me and commented 'this better hurry, I have a long demo" She was taken back looked befuddled and stated Susan Lambert has the demo. Well duh next time I guess I should look at the last name in the book to see who is giving what. But not to worry I and I really do have it next month. So I am ready.
Well until next time

Let's get started

I guess it is time I jump in here and get the blog wagon started. So many have told me I need to but it seems I never have time. Right now I am working on class samples for a demonstration that I am giving Thursday night. I have a beautiful quilt on my machine right now. I will post a pic of it when I take it off. The hubby has went off to bed and that leaves to myself, Oh boy a gal could get into a lot of trouble left on her own. But I just keep reminding myself of everythin I must get done. I promised a friend I would work up a mystery she wants to give. I read her instructions and I don't feel as tho I am going to be surprised with my finished quilt, so it is hard for me to get into the project. I love mystery quilts. I guess the next one I write up I sould share on here. Anyone for it. Can't promise when it would be, but will keep that in mind. Well I guess I better get the quilt off the machine and get the class samples done. Thursday is coming!
